Unlike your regular Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, the L versions are 12-inches longer (or 304.8mm) thanks to an additional 7-inches (or 177.8mm) of wheelbase. This allowed both the Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L to have a wheelbase of 3302mm and a total length of 5758mm
Jeep claims this gives the extended L models best-in-class overall passenger volume, second-row legroom, and a more spacious third-row. In addition, it also gets best-in-class cargo space behind the third row with 1,251 liters. This translates to an increase of 447 liters of extra luggage space over the standard-wheelbase version. If that's enough, it's rated to tow up to 4,535 kg, another best-in-class as claimed by Jeep.
Powering both the Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L is an all-new 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six. Called the 'Hurricane', this new engine is available in two states of tune. In the Wagoneer L, the six-cylinder produces 425 PS and 635 Nm of torque. In the Grand Wagoneer L, the straight-six cranks out more at 516 PS plus 678 Nm of pulling power.
Both engines are then mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to its smaller displacement over the V8 engines, Jeep estimates the Hurricane will have better fuel economy, as well as fewer carbon emissions. Four-wheel-drive is available on the L versions, along with an air suspension system for added ride comfort.
In terms of features, the Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L have the same level of features as the regular versions. From full-leather upholstery, 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.5- and 10.25-inch touchscreens on the dashboard, captain seats on the second row, 19-speaker McIntosh MX950 sound system, and walnut wood trim, this supersized SUV is brimming with luxurious appointments.
With the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L now serving as the biggest SUV in Jeep's lineup, they are putting other big luxury SUVs on notice, particularly the Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Navigator. If Jeep Philippines actually brings the Wagoneer here, should they also bring the extended L versions?
We'll be curious if it will even fit in a typical parking slot, given its gargantuan size.
