How to participate
You can start right now by following one of the two paths outlined below:
If you are using CLI/terminal, you will need to shut down your node and restart it with the new commands in this readme (you will notice there is a new telemetry line added in the node command) You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now.
If you plan to use the Subspace Desktop app (GUI), you will need to download the latest version of the app from this release page (v 0.3.2). (We are aware of a bug in the GUI for Linux users, please wait for a follow-up announcement, once it is fixed, to run the app.) You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Important: Remember to save your reward account’s mnemonic. That is the only way to prove you have participated in the stress test. If you lose it, you won’t be able to claim the reward/perk in the future.

If you have already a node up and running
For CLI users, please ensure you are using the latest snapshot. If that is the case, you just need to restart the node with the new command. For Subspace Desktop users, you have to download the new version of the app.
Proof of early participation
The reward account will be your proof of participation, that is why it is imperative that you save its mnemonic so that you can access the account in the future to prove you own it. If you are running the CLI version of the node, you usually specify the reward account when starting the farmer node via this command .\FARMER_FILE_NAME.exe farm --reward-address WALLET_ADDRESS. That is how you can check which account is being used.
For Subspace Desktop app users, the application generates a new reward account on your behalf. During the initial setup process, it will display ONLY ONCE the mnemonic for the reward account, so please save that somewhere safe. Without proof of account ownership (in short, holding the mnemonic), you won’t be able to prove your early participation.
What is a mnemonic
In the blockchain context, it is a collection of 12 to 24 words from which the private key of your account is generated. For example, when you create a Polkadot account using polkadot.js extension, your mnemonic could look something like the below. Please be aware that access to an account’s mnemonic means full access to that account, so never share it with anyone.

If you are running the node via CLI, you should have specified an external reward address via the command .\FARMER_FILE_NAME.exe farm --reward-address WALLET_ADDRESS. Please ensure you save the mnemonic for that account.
For Desktop Farmer users, you should have seen the mnemonic provided during the initial setup process. If you forgot to save it or have lost it, you can generate a new reward account by clicking on the Reset option in the setting (gear icon) of the GUI.

How long to keep the nodes running
Once you have your node running correctly, we ask you to keep it up and running for as long as possible. It is likely the test will run for a week or longer, so no worries about missing out on the early participation window.
Once you have farmed a few blocks, you won’t be penalized if your node goes offline. However, the goal of this stress test is to have as many active nodes running as possible. Depending on how the stress test goes, we might ask the community to help us with another round. Please keep an eye on the announcement channel.
