She’ll never judge you for your most recent Victoria’s Secret purchase, and she’ll definitely give you amazing expert advice on bizarre things that you didn’t realize she knew about. She’s usually 10 shots in when you arrive at the party, but she welcomes you with an elegant sense of fun. She’s ready to party, and party she does—effortlessly, and with cool grace.

2. The Therapist
She is a modern-day Pocahontas. She’s calm, cool, collected, and a lover of nature. She won’t give you an opinion until she knows it’s the best one for you; she’s not afraid to be direct if she knows it will help you in the end. She relaxes by reading up on psychological matters and staying healthy because she knows it’s good for her and it helps her find peace. When you spend time with her, you will go home feeling like you just spent the day at a spa. When you’re reeling from a stressful day of work, you know whom you’re going to Facebook-message when you get home, and it’s always the therapist.

3. The Laugher
She is equally funny and shy, the perfect balance of fun and practicality. You don’t realize it, but she observes the hell out of everything you do. She likes hanging out one-on-one and laughs at everything you say. She’s the person every comedian wants in their audience. She’s mindful, respectful, and will always answer your bizarre health questions through text, even if it’s just about your poop color. She’ll be there for you 110%, smiling and laughing through all of life’s ups and downs.

She is always on the go. Seriously, how many acts of service can one person do before winning the ****ing Nobel Peace Prize? She would let you live with her if you couldn’t afford a house and would even let you bring your cat (whom she’s allergic to). She’s like a second mom. She will do anything and drive anywhere to help you, and she will somehow fit in 30 other community projects along the way.

5. The Socialite
She’s friends with everyone, even people you thought you hated in high school. But even these terrible high-school peers seem cooler and nicer around her. She’s hot and she knows it. She’s flirty but in a non-annoying way. She’s actually not even flirty; she’s just so seriously interested in every person she meets she can’t help but hug them. Inside of her there is a secret pajama-loving, movie-watching, theoretical talker who really wants to know about your day.

6. The Sweetheart
She’s quiet and introspective, but you’d better not disagree with her morals because she will flatten you with her carefully thought-out beliefs. She’ll beat you in every game you’ll ever play with her, and she’ll always know how to shoot the shit with a room full of guys. She’s sincere and kind, and she’ll always cry for you if you’re sad. And if someone does something to hurt you, she will secretly hate them forever. She may sleep through a lot of your plans, but at the end of the day you can’t help but shrug and smile—she’s such a helpless sweetheart! She’s a better friend asleep than the rest of the world is awake anyway, so you’ll learn to deal with it.

7. The Truth-Teller
Listen, it’s hard to friend a truth-teller because it’s hard to hear the truth. But she’s an amazing friend. She will always speak bluntly and openly, and you will never need to guess what she’s thinking. Yes, she will intimidate the hell out of your significant other, but it’s totally worth it. No one loves you more than the truth-teller; that’s why she tells the truth. So shut up and listen, and never let her go. At the end of the day, she’s also the one who would do anything for you.

Friends are so underrated in life. We focus on our careers, family, and significant others, but your friends will also be there on your wedding day, the birth of your children, and when you buy your first house. They’ll cry with you through breakups, deaths, and job losses. They’re amazing people. If you haven’t already, it’s time to go out and find them.
