The PBA Governors’ Cup will not tip off as scheduled as the league awaits the arrival of other teams’ foreign reinforcements in the country.

Slated for a November 28 launch, the Governors’ Cup will instead open in December, PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said.

Marcial said quarantine and practice time will be taken into consideration for the new kickoff date as “three to four” imports have yet to join their teams.

Among the imports who are already in the Philippines include NLEX’s KJ McDaniels, Alaska’s Olu Ashaolu, Magnolia’s Mike Harris, TNT’s McKenzie Moore, and Phoenix’s Paul Harris.

“It will depend on the imports’ quarantine and I have to give them time to practice with their teams,” Marcial said in Filipino.

The PBA is also in talks with several venues and local government units for the staging of Governors’ Cup games.

Aside from the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, where PBA 3×3 games are behind held, the PBA looks to return to the Araneta Coliseum, Mall of Asia Arena, and San Juan Arena.
