Switchfoot is an American alternative rock band from San Diego, California.
The band's members are Jon Foreman (lead vocals, guitar),
Tim Foreman (bass guitar, backing vocals),
Chad Butler (drums, percussion),
Jerome Fontamillas (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals),
and Drew Shirley (guitar, backing vocals).
After early successes in the Christian rock scene, Switchfoot first gained mainstream recognition with the inclusion of four of their songs in the 2002 movie A Walk to Remember.

Nothing Is Sound is the fifth studio album by American alternative rock band Switchfoot.
It was released on September 13, 2005, and début at number three on the Billboard 200.
The first single from this album was "Stars," which was the number one most-added song on Modern Rock Radio,
and received much airplay on alternative rock stations upon release. A second single "We Are One Tonight" was released in early 2006, but without much success on the Billboard charts.
The album was marred by major controversy over the inclusion of XCP copy protection distributed on all copies of the disc.
This led to bassist Tim Foreman posting a detailed work-around on the band's website (which was promptly removed by Columbia Records).
Nothing Is Sound was at the forefront of the Sony BMG CD copy prevention *******, which eventually led to the recall of all CDs that contained the protection.

Oh! Gravity. is the sixth album by the San Diego based alternative rock band Switchfoot.
It was released on December 26, 2006.
To give fans a preview of the new material, Switchfoot released the downloadable single "Dirty Second Hands" to major online music stores on September 26.
The album's first radio single, the title song "Oh! Gravity.", was released to radio October 31 and received moderate airplay on alternative stations across America.
In addition, the band provided free streaming audio of both the aforementioned tracks on their MySpace page.
The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at #18, as the second-highest debut of the week, selling 63,000 copies in its first week.
It also reached #1 in the iTunes Music Store. As of June 2010, the album had sold 262,000+ copies

On February 13, 2011, the album won the award for Best Rock Gospel Album at the 53rd Grammy Awards.
It was co-produced by the band and Mike Elizondo, after initially self-producing their work, as well as test runs with producers such as Ken Andrews and Charlie Peacock.
The album was recorded mainly in the band's Spot X Studio in their hometown of San Diego, California. It was originally to be released on October 6, 2009,
but was pushed back to a November 10, 2009 release on their independent record label,
the Atlantic-distributed lowercase people records.
