Ans :-1) The hydrophobic non polar region must align with each other in order for the structure to mave minimal potential energy and consequently higher stability. The fatty acid tail of Phospholipid can't mix with water, but phosphate head of molecule can. Thus the head orients to water and tail to other lipids.

Ans:-2) membranes are bilayer and composed of hydrophilic and hydrophic part. They enable the substances to move through special transportation system.

The reason that water can move through the membrane is :-

Water is polar i. e the oxygen atom pulls the binding electron from both hydrogen towards itself and therefore the oxygen has partial negative charge. On the other hand membrane is polar.

Water molecules are small 0.275nm and biological membranes are thin 4 nm. Water is at neutral pH and carries no charge. Therefore water moves through the membrane but not super efficiently. All type of organisms have special proteins called aquaporins that form small pores to the membrane.

Ans :-3) Lowering the temperature means less energy in the molecules , so they will move at lower speed . Lowering temperature also decreases kinetic energy of the molecules in the plasma membrane , compressing them together. This increases density of plasma membrane which slows down diffusion into the cell.

Ans :-4) The cell gets energy from ATP produced by its own metabolism to power active transport processes such as activity of pumps.

Ans :-5) Ions are charged and consequently they are hydrophillic and can not associate with the lipid portion of the membrane. Ions must be transported by carrier proteins or ion ion channels.
