BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi: A joint sting operation by the military and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) led to the arrest of three drug personalities and the confiscation of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P6.8 million here on Saturday afternoon.

According to Maj. Gen. Alfredo Rosario Jr., commander of Western Mindanao Command on Monday identified the arrested suspects as 21-year-old Rodimer Hamsiri Sappari of Barangay Poblacion, 26-year-old Nurmilyn Suldi Majid of Barangay Poblacion and 28-year-old Hatta Mutalib Sakiral of Barangay Suwang Pukol, all in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

Seized from the possession of the three suspects were assorted drug paraphernalia and several small cut heat-sealed transparent sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with a total weight of more or less one kilogram.

Rosario said the seized substance has an estimated street value of P6,800,000.

Col. Romeo Racadio, commander of Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi, said the intensive planning and coordination led to the successful execution of the buy-bust.

The drug suspects are now in the custody of PDEA-Region 9 for proper disposition and filing of appropriate charges.

The military continues to conduct law enforcement support operations with other law enforcement agencies to prevent the proliferation of îllégâl drugs in the province.

"Rest assured that the military units under the Western Mindanao Command will continue to attune its efforts particularly on the government's campaign against prohibited drugs," Rosario said.
