PHManila Mayor Isko Moreno and Dr. Willie Ong on Monday filed their certificate of candidacy for President and Vice President in Eleksyon 2022 polls before the Commission on Elections at the Harbor Garden Tent at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.
Moreno and Ong are running mates under the Aksyon Demokratiko party.
“Mga kababayan, tanggapin po ninyo ang aplikasyon ko. Buong kababaang-loob, ako po tumatakbong pangulo ng bansa at aplikante ninyo,” said the Manila mayor filed his COC at 11:34 a.m.
(Countrymen, accept my application. Humbly, I am running for president of the country and your applicant.)
The Manila mayor admitted that he is nervous in pursuing the presidency.
“Sa dami kong sinalihan na halalan, ngayon ako medyo kabadong-kabado.” (With all the elections I joined, I am most nervous now.)
Aside from Samira Gutoc and Carl Balita, Moreno said more aspiring candidates for senator will file their COCs in the coming days or weeks.
He pointed out that he can work with aspiring Senate candidates from the administration and opposition.
Moreno also E×ρréššed openness to working with other vice president candidates if he wins the elections.
Ong said that their tandem will focus on healing the country and avoid political fights.
Ang pinaka-focus namin nga ay maghilom yung bansa. Hindi tayo mag-fo-focus sa mga away politika (Our main focus is to heal the country. We will not focus on political fights),” Ong said. — KG/RSJ, GMA News
