- The Fibonacci sequence is a bunch of numbers . After starting with a pair of ones , each number in the sequence is produced by adding the previous two , like so : 1 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 5 , 8 , 13 , 21 , 34 , 55 , 89 , 144 ... and so on . The sequence by itself does nothing , but it does have some interesting properties . It 's mainly known for its relationship with the golden ratio . This ratio has applications in various fields , including math , design , art , and music . Some people claim that the golden ratio shows up " everywhere " in nature , but it turns out that those people are usually seeing a logarithmic spiral instead .
