Healthcare workers from various government agencies are being deployed to assist public hospitals amid the continued rise in the number of Covid-19 cases.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the deployment is on top of the augmentation provided by the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Philippine National Police in vaccination sites and primary care facilities.

"Ngayon po, humihingi tayo ng karagdagan at ito po ay idedeploy natin sa mga medical tents.... para karagdagang workforce sa ating mga hospital (We have requested additional healthcare workers and we will deploy them in different medical tents in hospitals for their additional workforce)," Vergeire said during her regular media briefing on Monday.

She added that the Health department is waiting for the final list of the 97,000 health workers eligible for the second tranche of special risk allowance (SRA) payments.

The Department of Budget and Management issued on Friday P888 million for the next tranche of SRA benefits for healthcare workers.
