OPM legend Claire dela Fuente passes away​

The popular singer is the latest public figure to meet an untimely demise related to Covid-19.

Singer and entrepreneur Claire dela Fuente, best known as the “Karen Carpenter of the Philippines” and “Asia’s Sweetest Voice” passed away March 30, Tuesday morning due to cardiac arrest. She was 63.

In a radio interview following her passing, son Gregorio “Gigo” de Guzman said he and his mother both tested positive for Covid-19. De Guzman said Dela Fuente heeded her doctor’s advice to check-in at the hospital for monitoring even though she initially did not feel sick. He added that she was able to talk to him to ask for food but did not reveal her condition.


By Tuesday morning around 7am, De Guzman was informed that Dela Fuente, who was also suffering from several ailments including hypertension and diabetes, had died in her sleep.
